Technical Director/Production Manager

Job Overview: The Technical Director/Production Manager reports to the Executive Director as a seasonal (mid-May through late-August), independent contractor position working approximately 15 – 20 hours during a regular week and well over 40 hours during a tech week. Salary range is commensurate with experience, and is highly competitive based on comparable theatres in the region.

The Technical Director/Production Manager manages and implements all technical aspects of productions excluding costumes for RRT's five-production season. Working with an assistant, the TD/PM is responsible for the full scenic design and build, and oversees a scenic artist, properties mistress, lighting and sound designers for each production.

Candidates must possess proficient technical skills in the following areas: sound design/sound technician, lighting design/master electrician work, plus strong scenic design/set construction skills. While RRT has a whirlwind production schedule with the expectation of long, intense hours during tech week for each production, we are a close-knit, supportive group and take great pride in the quality of our work.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION: Implement all technical aspects of productions • Manage scene shop and maintain its organization • Maintain tools and equipment • Maintain technical aspects of performance venue • Work with designers to ensure they design within budget and organizational capacity • Oversee lighting and sound set-up • Design and build sets for all productions • Recruit, engage, and oversee community volunteers

 QUALIFICATIONS:  Exceptional project management skills • Strong communication skills • Ability to collaborate and be a team player • Proficient technical skills in the following areas: • Sound design/sound technician + Lighting design/master electrician + Scenic design/set construction • Ability to lift and carry up to 70lbs • Experience managing expenses and budgets 

EXPERIENCE:  Preferably 2 years of experience working in a small scale theatre • Proven track record of success in shop organization • Some staff management and administrative experience • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred

Private music instructor openings available for guitar, voice and piano.

RRCAA seeks motivated and experienced private music instructors to teach the following disciplines: guitar, voice and piano. Candidates should have experience teaching students with varying levels of experience ranging in age from youth through adult.  Studio openings are available on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Potential instructors should possess considerable training and experience with their respective discipline as well as two years of teaching experience.  Instructors are expected to provide students with high quality and sound technical training, and maintain clear and consistent communication with parents and with the RRCAA staff.

Instructors must pass local, state, and federal background check at their own expense.

Youth Theater Camp Director

Job Overview: The Youth Theater Camp Director reports to the Executive Director as a seasonal independent contractor position. Salary range is commensurate with experience, and is highly competitive based on comparable theatres in the region.

The Youth Theater Camp Director will have the freedom to operate independently but will work closely with the Executive Director in developing programming and hiring staff. The successful candidate will be highly organized with previous experience directing youth productions in both a traditional theater and a camp-structured setting and have an interest in returning each summer to expand the program.

The Youth Theater Camp Director will develop and implement a series of week-long summer camps for ages 4 – 8 and 8 – 15.  The current camp structure allows for families to attend one camp or, for older campers, to build a more intensive experience by returning for multiple camps through the summer.

Costume Designer

Rabbit Run Theater is hiring a Costume Designer for "Kiss Me Kate" and "Newsies" for the 2020 summer season

Job Overview: The Costume Designer (CD) reports to the Executive Director as a production-specific, independent contractor position. Salary range is commensurate with experience, and is highly competitive based on comparable theatres in the region.

The CD will have the freedom to operate independently but must have the ability to work closely with the director and season producer. The successful candidate will have the ability to sew, tailor, and work with multiple different periods and styles. RRT has an extensive period costume collection and existing relationships for affordable costume rentals.

The CD is expected to work within a specified budget, attend production meetings, schedule measurement appointments and costume fittings with the production stage manager and attend each rehearsal during tech week (typically 6:00 – 10:30 pm) through Opening Night of each production. The CD is also responsible for any mending or replacement of costumes during the run of each production and for the cleaning and return of any rentals at the end of the production. Weekly cleaning of costumes is handled through an outside source.

The two productions available for the upcoming 2020 season include:

KISS ME KATE – First Tech: May 24, 2020 / Performances: May 29 – June 13, 2020

NEWSIES – First Tech: July 5, 2020 / Performances: July 10 – 18, 2020
