Rabbit Run Theater 2020 Auditions

Audition appointments are now being taken for the 2020 summer season at Rabbit Run Theater in Madison, Ohio.

The productions for the summer:
Kiss Me Kate
Baskerville, A Sherlock Holmes Mystery
Young Adult Production - Disney’s Newsies
Titanic, The Musical
Always . . . Patsy Cline 

Kiss Me Kate
Production dates: May 29, 30, 31, June 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 
Directed by Brint Learned. 
Musical direction by Danielle Jones
Choreography by Hannah Green Hrutkay.

Roles available:  There are multiple roles available for men and women, ages 15 and up.

Leading lady Lilli Vanessi and her ex-husband, actor/director Fred Graham, battle onstage and off in a production of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew”.  With romance, comedy, sophistication, and behind-the-scenes high jinks, “Kiss Me Kate” combines the humor and brilliancy of Cole Porter and William Shakespeare.

Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery

Directed by Ann Hedger

Roles available:  5 roles available for men and women, ages 18 and up

Get your deerstalker cap on — the play’s afoot! From the award-winning mastermind of mayhem, Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor), comes a fast-paced comedy about everyone’s favorite detective solving his most notorious case. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson must crack the mystery of "The Hound of the Baskervilles" before a family curse dooms its newest heir. 

Sun., Mar. 15, 1 - 3 p.m.
No monologues - actors will read from the script.

The Young Adult Production, Disney’s Newsies, the Musical 
Production dates:  July 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18 (matinee & evening)

Choreography by Hannah Green Hrutkay 

Roles available:  There are multiple roles available, male and female, ages 12 through 21.

“Newsies” follows the tale of charismatic newsboy Jack Kelly as he and his fellow newsies rally to clash with New York City’s titans of publishing to fight for their rights.  Set at the turn-of-the century and inspired by a true story, “Newsies” is packed with dance numbers and a family-friendly message.

Titanic, The Musical
Production dates:  July 24, 25, 26, 30, 31, Aug. 1, 2, 6, 7, 8

Roles available:  Multiple roles available for men and women, ages 15 and up

Titanic, The Musical 
is an account of the first and last days of this ship of dreams.  With music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and story and book by Peter Stone, “Titanic, The Musical” is told through some of the real life characters involved in the tragedy.

Always . . . Patsy Cline 
Production dates:  Aug. 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30, Sept. 3, 4, 5

Roles available:  Two roles are available for females, ages 25 and up

Always . . . Patsy Cline was originally created and directed by Ted Swindley.  This play with music is a tribute to this legendary country singer and is based on the true story of Patsy’s friendship with a fan from Houston.  The show features many of Patsy’s greatest hits including “Crazy”, “I Fall to Pieces” and “Sweet Dreams” among others.

Please note:

Actors auditioning for a musical should prepare to sing 16 measures of a Broadway-style song from memory. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist in a binder. No pre-recorded accompaniment or CD tracks. No monologue need be prepared as actors will read sides from the script.  Actors should dress business casual (jeans are acceptable, no sweatpants).

Video auditions will be accepted for those who are not able to make the regular audition dates.  A video audition should include a vocal audition with 16 measures of a Broadway-style song with piano accompaniment.

Video submissions should be sent to rabbitrunoffice@windstream.net and must be received by March 20th.  

Rabbit Run Theater is one of the few barn theaters remaining in Ohio and is open every summer from the beginning of June through the beginning of September.  The theater is located at 5648 W. Chapel Rd., Madison.
