A New Yorker Jazzes Up Thoroughly Modern Millie!

Rabbit Run
May 02, 2016

Danielle Jones, a Long Islander come to northeast Ohio by way of Arkansas, will musically direct our first musical of the summer, Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Now a resident of Madison, Jones lives “literally across the street from the Barn.” And we are thankful she does! Going for a walk “the day we moved in,” Jones spied the barn, and was intrigued enough by what she saw to send her resume in to the Rabbit Run main office. Her first show at Rabbit Run was 2011’s Tintypes as a member of the pit orchestra, and she has “been back at the barn ever summer since,” as well as becoming part of our faculty as a voice instructor.

Jones has a definite appreciation for Rabbit Run’s dedication to arts education and live theater. She taught for over 10 years in the public school system, and “witnessed how the arts can change lives. I’ve seen kids find their voice.” And working in live theater has impressed her deeply: “All the hours of rehearsal, all the work backstage … and all the other details from the programs to ushers to concessions and beyond – when you’re involved in a show, you are part of something huge that couldn’t happen without every single person involved.”

She remembers the first time she walked into the barn as an orchestra member “on a hot summer evening for Monday of tech week. I was welcomed immediately and felt right at home.” And we are so thankful she has set up home in Madison, to lend her talents to Millie!
